YAY tests!

I had my blood tested for a whole bunch of things last week (poor arm still has a bruise) and also had my supposed-to-be annual swab as well. Everything is perfectly fine, no parts need replacing.. so.. I am good to go after an oil change and new filters hehehe.

Quite a relief that swab was. In case you were wondering why on earth I should go each year: my mother took DES when she was pregnant with me, so I run a risk of getting all sorts of nasty things that I really don't want to get!

Anyways.. off to work I go *skips off happily*

Yes folks.. poetry. I have been an avid writer in the past, I even got published once. I stopped writing completely years ago and oh dear.. I think I just got my muse back.

Needless to say.. one Marty Fox person needs to check his email in the morning *wink*

Educating a father

On this really hot day (at this time it's 30.7C in my back yard and the temp is STILL rising) I went home after a day of working. Almost there.. just 50 more meters, and in front of me are this dad and his daughter, biking home from school. I cannot overtake them as the street is too narrow and since I am nearly there anyway, why do that, right?

As I am hobbling along behind them I see the straps of her backback dangling dangerously low and close to the wheel's spokes. I looked a bit longer at it.. waited for the dad to see it, which he did, but he didn't respond at all. That is when I hit the horn a few times and yelled at him to stop (my windows were down, obviously) which he did.

I got out of my car and told him that he should be careful about that. Those things can so easily get caught and she'll hit the pavement. "Oh but nothing has ever happened, always goes ok". I told him that sure ok, NOW things are ok, but one mishap and her beautiful little face will land on the street stones and they will leave a mark.

Maybe it was the fact that I was wearing my white work coat still, maybe it was because it suddenly dawned on him that he could be responsible for possibly permanently disfiguring his daughter if he didn't act on it, but he proceeded to tie the two ends together at the back with a double knot.

Honestly.. I don't have kids.. but when you do.. aren't you super duper careful with them?? I would be had I had them.

My new cubing cabinet

Bought a new one today. Too bad they didn't have the same color cabinet anymore, but this one will work. Here are two pictures showing you what things currently look like:

How to get your too tight cube to move wayyyy better

Buy an 11x11, scramble it thoroughly, solve the centers on one face, then start cubing with your too tight cube.

Problem solved.

If it comes back, simply solve another center on that 11x11.

3x4x5 SOLVED!!

With the help of some special I managed to solve this cube. *grins* Thanks bunches sweets.

The 4x4x5 has been scrambled now, and oh dear goodness, the 11x11 as well! I have three of the center colors done now but the solve of this cube needs breaks as my hands are not big enough to grip it proper. It IS loads of fun though hehe:

Public service announcement, emergency lists

PSA.. ooooh sounds official dunnit.

Basically I want to let you know.. I just finished doing mine: get your emergency lists updated folks!

Emergency list?

I carry a list in my wallet that holds my personal info, my doctor's name and number, and names and numbers of who to call in case something happens to me. Should anything happen and I am not able to respond then they can find that info right there in my wallet.

There is nothing worse than loved ones not knowing what happened to you folks, so.. update those lists!

Scrambled the 3x4x5

A certain SOMEONE told me to scramble my 3x4x5. I didn't dare to yet, but that SOMEONE talked me into it.

And now I am trying to wrap my brain around it but I fear my brain hasn't expanded enough yet to do so.. so it stretches and makes me go eep and stuff..

*squints*

Kung Fu cube versus Dayan ZhanChi stickerless

Recently I purchased the Kung Fu 3x3 cube at Everbuying, wondering if my suspicions were correct and that this is a straight knockoff. I have seen this Kung Fu brand cube slowly appear at other locations as well.


The colors and all the pieces look exactly the same, except for a few minor bits when you look closer. Here are the pieces that have differences side by side. Left= Kung Fu, right = Dayan:

Note the groove between the parts of the cubies. It is much bigger on the Dayan


The flat area on the side of the base is larger on the Kung Fu


It appears to have differently shaped bottom parts on the edges


And if you look closer you can see the difference, the Kung Fu ones are narrower; that wing is gone


So.. knock off, yes. But with some bits altered. I am not a good enough speedcuber to notice the difference, but I am sure that the absence of the wings on the edges and the larger flat area on them (which on my cube I modded myself to improve performance) can have an influence.

Supercubes

I spent a while in the afternoon removing and restickering some cubes. They are called supercubes, which have specific orientations of the pieces. Everything has its own location, and it has to be rotated the right way around. Quite fun, that.

3x3 with Pochmann stickers


Working on stickering the 4x4. I found these stickers nicely fit the Eastsheen sized cubes as well so I sent this image in a slightly bigger size to Olivér so he could include that fact in his shop.

Bird bath is here!

I was tracking it on the GLS site.. then saw it was delivered. I went what the fuck.. no they didn't! I don't have anything, so they must have dropped it off at the wrong place. Oh bugger.. grrr..

So.. in my best fluent German *cough* I sent them an email stating such and that I was very sorry about it and could they look into things.

I hit send and not even ten minutes later my doorbell goes crazy and there my neighbor is, holding this box with.. yes.. the bird bath! Whahahaha. Needless to say I mailed the seller right on back telling him so.
